Why do people get their kids cirsized?

Does cutting away something that protects from disease,and was put there for a reason curse God or praise him. The Jewish religion started this as a covenant for God! Since we now have Jesus Christ are these Jewish traditions necessary and if so why don't women have pieces cut off them?God bless all
