What is a mite box? (told to use for treating parakeet mites)?

You don't want to use those mite protectors you hang on the bird's cage. Those can make your parakeets ill. The best treatment for mites is Ivermectin. An avian vet can apply this medicine topically to your parakeet's skin. You can use vaseline on the area, but that will only help temporarily. Ivermectin will get rid of the mites.
